Homages Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt ready to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began passing more hours together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he could not remember "a single day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a different essay, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A court order placed a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the deaths, public individuals offered divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative statements that were widely condemned by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the critics recently. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the comments as "disappointing" and suggested they demonstrated a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser should have intervened when the choice to weigh in on the passing was made.
