Indianapolis Colts Take On Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10
Hello, fussball enthusiasts. Wie gehts? Everything good I trust on this fine morning kickoff to week 10 coming straight outta Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (three wins and five losses). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the first in the capital city.
Pre-match Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.
Well, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in Pittsburgh?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. Loving the sartorial choices today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the German anthem. Classy.
First Quarter Gameplay
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
And we're off! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the excitement continues as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs cannot reel in a quick pass from Jones. On the play before the turnover on downs the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on the Colts' tight end. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their string of three losses. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Touchdown Updates
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.
A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and fumbles the football.
A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the seas part for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
Additional Tenth Week Games
And for afters, the full slate starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:
(5-4) Carolina Panthers v Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Bears v New York Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Texans v Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) Jets v Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)
An exciting lineup. My pick for the best game is Minnesota and Baltimore playing out the game of the day.
