Top-ranked Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Awards.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.
The 27-year-old won four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of Consistency
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Statistics
Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a historic £11m in prize money.
She received almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a new level".
