Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”
